چکیده
Abstract Background Airway management is a high-stakes procedure in emergency medicine. Continuously monitoring this allows performance improvement while revealing safety issues. We instituted quality initiative the department to improve first-pass success rates department. Methods This was at an academic from 2018 2020. developed rapid sequence intubation guideline for standardization and introduced note monitoring. Data were entered directly by primary physician nurse during intubation. The team thereafter collected data retrospectively into local airway database. More importantly, we culture of via regular education feedback. Results included total 146 intubations. rate started 57.1% increased 80.0% study period (P < 0.01). Fifty-six percent male, mean age (±SD) 55.56 (±17.64). Video laryngoscopy used 101 (69.2%) patients, direct only 44 (30.8%) patients. A logistic regression analysis conducted determine independent factors associated with success. These use video (odds ratio (OR) 2.47 95% confidence interval (95% CI) [1.62–3.76]) (adjusted OR 3.87 [1.13–13.23]) good Cormack–Lehane views (grades 1–2) (OR 2.71 CI [1.74–4.20]) 7.88 [2.43–25.53]). Conclusion Our shows that implementing maintaining program improves Moreover, obtaining are independently improved

Retrospective analysis of etomidate versus ketamine for first-pass intubation success in an academic emergency department.
OBJECTIVES The objective of this study was to compare first-pass intubation success between patients who received etomidate versus ketamine for rapid sequence intubation (RSI) in the emergency department (ED). METHODS This was a retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data recorded in a quality improvement database between July 1, 2007, and December 31, 2012. The study was conducted...

OBJECTIVES The goal of this study was to determine the association of first pass success with the incidence of adverse events (AEs) during emergency department (ED) intubations. METHODS This was a retrospective analysis of prospectively collected continuous quality improvement data based on orotracheal intubations performed in an academic ED over a 4-year period. Following each intubation, th...

OBJECTIVE Many EDs have begun to evaluate their airway performance. The first-pass success (FPS) rate is a commonly used marker of proficiency, and has been associated with rates of adverse events. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to quantify the ED FPS rates and summarise the rates of adverse events associated with endotracheal intubation. METHODS A structured literatur...
